Open full FAQ
What is professional growing media?+

Professional growing media is a horticultural substrate designed for a defined crop, container, irrigation method, and production stage. Peat structure, pH, fertilizer, wetting agent, and added components such as perlite or wood fiber are selected to create the required root-zone conditions.

What is Estonian peat moss?+

Estonian peat moss is peat sourced and processed in Estonia for professional horticulture. Estonia is part of the Baltic region, so it can also be described as Baltic peat; a buyer should still confirm the peat type, fraction, moisture condition, packaging, documentation, and intended use rather than relying on origin alone.

What is the difference between white, brown, and black peat?+

White peat is less decomposed and usually provides a more open structure, while black peat is more decomposed, finer, and generally offers stronger water buffering. Brown peat falls between them in decomposition and physical behaviour. A suitable growing medium may use one peat type or a defined combination depending on the crop and production system.

How do 0-5, 0-10, 0-25, and 0-40 mm peat fractions differ?+

Fine 0-5 mm peat can suit seedling and propagation work where even tray filling and close root contact matter. Broader 0-10, 0-25, and 0-40 mm fractions provide progressively more air space and structure for larger containers, longer cycles, or local substrate recipes.

What is the difference between raw peat moss and a finished growing medium?+

Raw peat moss is a starting material for substrate producers and local blenders. A finished growing medium is prepared for a defined horticultural use and can include selected peat fractions, pH adjustment, fertilizer, wetting agent, perlite, wood fiber, or other components.

Can ASB support a local substrate recipe?+

Yes. A local substrate producer can discuss raw peat structure, moisture condition, pH direction, packaging, seasonal volume, required documents, and the components that will be blended locally. The final specification should be confirmed against the local crop and production method.
